Structured Cabling Technician

Areas Needed: Atlanta, Georgia | Savannah, Georgia | Raligh/Duham and Winston-Salem, NC

CooperCraft Communications is seeking to employ an experienced and BISCI certified fiber optic and structured cabling technician with the following qualifications:

Job Requirements

  1. Applicant must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in installing, trouble shooting, and repairing structured fiber optic and copper cabling systems.
  2. Applicant must have a minimum BISCI level 1 certification, and must be able to obtain BISCI level 2 within 1 year.
  3. Applicant must have prior experience in analyzing schematics, prints, or drawings for the purpose of installing structured cabling systems.
  4. Applicant must have intimate knowledge of BISCI & TIA/EIA codes associated with structured cabling systems.
  5. Applicant must have the ability to lead/manage other team members.
  6. Applicant must be proficient in use of personal computers.
  7. Applicant must have experience and working knowledge in assembly and installation of cable tray and head end closet build out.
  8. Applicant must have working knowledge and experience with equipment used for structured cabling systems testing and fusion splicing, such as an OTDR, fiber optic fusion splicer, Fluke DTX1800 &/Or DSX5000 tester, etc...
  9. Applicant must have the ability to manage installation and communicate verbally and in writing with management and customers.
  10. Applicant must have the ability to read manuals, diagnose problems, follow trouble shooting steps, and perform installations of new equipment.
  11. Applicant must have the ability to work from a ladder, scaffolding, and/or lift equipment, as required.
  12. Applicant must have the ability to lift/move equipment and tools weighing up to 100 lbs.
  13. State low voltage and/or RCDD licensing is a plus.
  14. Other low voltage experience including intrusion, CCTV, telecom, access control, and AV/Paging is a plus.
  15. Previous experience in the healthcare, higher education, and industrial marketplaces is preferred.
  16. Applicant must be willing to travel.

Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair structured fiber optic and copper cabling systems.
  • Utilize equipment for structured cabling testing, fiber splicing, and certification.
  • Install cabling support above ceilings.
  • Assemble and install cable tray and head end closet build outs.
  • Analyze schematics, prints, or drawings for the purpose of installing structured cabling systems.
  • Lead/manage team members.
  • Manage installation and communicate verbally and in writing with CooperCraft management and customers.
  • Work from a ladder, scaffolding, and/or lift equipment.
  • Lift/move equipment and tools weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Utilize experience and/or training certifications to effectively install structured cabling systems.
