Security Systems Technician

Requirements Education and Experience:

Technical Diploma/Degree in Telecommunications or associated field or equal experience

Ability to manage/direct less experienced staff with technical and customer support functions

Technical Certifications in low voltage cabling and infrastructure systems are a plus

Experience in access control systems, IP camera systems, structured cabling, nurse call systems are required

Experience in security alarm systems a plus
Understanding of BICSI/TIA/ANSI cabling standards and codes

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Low Voltage Systems, Telecommunications cabling, and Access Control Systems

Understanding of copper and fiber cabling techniques and standards

Job Duties: Responsible for but not limited to the following:

Responsible for technical field support related to service and installations Installs voice, data, and other low voltage wiring and test accordingly

Performs preventive maintenance on, Security, Alarm, Access Control, IPCCTV, Telecommunications, and other equipment

Understanding cable management (codes, above ceiling, etc.)
Installs cable hardware infrastructures (voice connectors, data patch panels, etc.)

Responsible for cleaning voice/data closets and keeping cable infrastructures neat and orderly

Maintains voice/data cable records and associated documentation Responsible for on-call duties

Responsible for installation, repair, and maintenance of Access Control and Security Alarm Systems


Works on Nurse Call wiring and repair issues
Installation of paging systems
Responsible for Television cable installation and testing
Assists with data network switching and voice network switching installations
Attends basic training on cable certification, access control, IPCCTV, and voice products Maintain a working relationship with all staff with open communication

Responsible for work order/trouble ticket management and follow up

Responsible for keeping an inventory of network/telecom and wiring equipment and material

Responsible for vendor returns (bad equipment, etc.) Responsible for keeping up with tools and equipment Assists with basic Project Management
Employment Requirements:

Must be able to travel
Must pass a background check and drug screening

Must be able to lift 75 pounds
